Roots to Sky Sanctuary creates a nurturing environment for individuals of diverse backgrounds to experience trauma healing and integration, deep ceremony, personal growth and transformation, food and plant medicine, while building and strengthening the bonds of community and connection to the environment.
Roots to Sky is a BIPOC founded and led 125 acre regenerative farm and sanctuary, gathering decades of collective expertise in education, humanities, health and wellness, entrepreneurship, outdoor leadership, activism, food justice, restorative justice, and healing arts programming to create a multi-use property serving local counties and our existing communities from metropolitan areas.
Our fellowship and residency program completely funds accommodations and stipends for individuals for their 1, 3, and 6 month fellowships. In turn, these Fellows will have access to the Sanctuary to invite groups of target audiences who typically do not have access to the Allegheny Mountains and Potomac River for weekend and week-long humanities programming that they curate and host at RTS.
In this inaugural project, we deepen the “gallery experience” transforming Roots to Sky from a passive exhibition to an active interdisciplinary site that is home to curated educational seminars, workshops, short documentary vignettes, art installations, and multimedia historical motifs.
